Four police land cruisers carrying men in uniform have arrived at Golden Peacock Hotel in Blantyre as a stalemate continues over a coffin with the remains of a former employee, which has been dumped at the hotel reception.
People from Mbayani have dumped the coffin over alleged failure by the company to assist with a coffin and transportation to Mzimba for their former employee’s remains.
Currently, relatives of the deceased, Joseph Ngulube, are locked in a room with the hotel’s management to resolve the issue.
There is commotion at Golden Peacock Hotel in Blantyre where some people fro
m Mbayani have left a coffin with the remains of an alleged employee of the hotel, Joseph Ngulube, at the reception area.
According to a relative of the deceased, Edgar Mlachira, Ngulube worked for the hotel as a waiter and died by drowning.
He says after his death the management of the hotel failed to provide assistance in terms of coffin and tradnsport to Mzimba, hence their decision to leave the coffin (which they bought with their money) at the hotel.
The hotel management is yet to comment on the matter.
