A 14-year-old boy, Limbani Mose, from Chimbeta Village under Senior Chief Khwethemule in Thyolo District, is enduring severe pain after being diagnosed with ear cancer. His condition has worsened, spreading to his brain, leaving his family desperate for help.
According to his grandfather, Daniel Laston Chikachezi, Limbani began complaining of ear pain in February this year. Despite multiple visits to Malamulo Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, doctors initially failed to diagnose the issue.
“Limbani has been suffering from this pain since February, and we only received the cancer diagnosis in June. By then, it had already spread to his brain. He now requires specialized treatment abroad, which we cannot afford,” Chikachezi explained.
In their effort to seek proper medical care for their grandson, the family has sold most of their food supplies, leaving them with nothing. They are now appealing to well-wishers for assistance with both food and funds to help Limbani get the treatment he needs overseas.
Dorothy Mkomanya, Limbani’s teacher at Mchenga School, who helped identify the boy’s condition, described him as an intelligent child with a promising future. She emphasized the need for immediate help, not only for medical treatment but also for better living conditions.
“Limbani is a bright student, and I would be overjoyed if well-wishers could assist him. He is in desperate need of a mattress, as his sleeping conditions are poor, and most importantly, he needs medical care abroad,” Mkomanya said.
