The University of Malawi’s Gender Justice Clinic (GJC) has strongly condemned the circulation of a leaked nude video of a young woman on social media platforms, such as Facebook and X which was allegedly displayed on the school’s TV at the Cafeteria.

According to a memo jointly signed by its President, Bwighane Gondwe, and Secretary Ruth Gabriel the clinic describes the action as a threat to the victim’s mental health and an infringement on her dignity.

“This act is vile, sickening, and abhorrent. Such behavior is a threat to the young woman’s mental health and a serious infringement on her dignity.” Reads part of the Memo.

The Clinic has called for immediate action, including a thorough investigation by the university, Support for the victim, Stronger policies to prevent similar violations, Educational initiatives promoting respect, consent, and digital ethics

The develelopment follows a recent flood of social media posts sharing the nude video, allegedly of a student from the Malawi University of Business and Applied Science.
