Ekhaya Group of Companies officially inaugurated its state-of-the-art Ekhaya Abattoir at Mpamba in Blantyre on Thursday.
Group Chief Executive Officer Anabel Mpinganjira assured Malawians of the quality meat products from the facility.
“We have met all requirements and regulations, prioritizing health, quality, and standards in our processes,” Mpinganjira stated.
Engineer Geoffrey Mamba, Principal Secretary for Irrigation in the Ministry of Agriculture, identified limited private sector participation as a significant challenge to the slow growth of livestock production in the country.
“We commend Ekhaya for this substantial investment. Such initiatives align with our national investment goals under the 2063 Agenda, contributing to economic growth and job creation,” Mamba remarked.
The facility, which sits on a 2.1 hectares of land, started in 2021 and has the capacity to hold approximately 150 to 200 live animals at once.
