Political activist Bon Kalindo has asked Parliament to pass a law on Indian shop workers’salaries claiming that the K60,000 salaries they are receiving per months is very too little to match with today’s cost of living which is beyond the reach of the poor people.
Kalindo said beside these people working in Indian shops forwarding their concerns and grievances, the Government under the leadership of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has not addressed their concerns and they take their concerns as useless.
He said it was sad that Indian shop workers mobilized themselves to march to Parliament to deliver their petition but they were greeted by tear gas which was thrown by Malawi Police Service (MPS) to disperse them.
Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo has described Government directive of slashing down prices of some commodities as not true claiming that the decision was made verbally without going through Parliament.
Kalindo said as of today, Indian shops still remains closed because of the directive and the owners are waiting for the same government to give them guidance on the way forward saying these shop owners will be suffering as things are continuing to be worse in Malawi.
He said instead of Members of Parliament prioritizing on very important bills in Parliament, their focus is on Age Limit Bill against former President and DPP leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika from standing in the 16th September, 2025 elections.
The activist said ever since, the MCP has been well-known for abusing people, harassing people and intimidating people observing that this abuse is still continuing in the MCP, it is an inheritance by blood and today, the MCP is prioritizing on blocking Mutharika from standing.
He said the ball is in the hands of Malawians that are sailing through pain and sufferings to decide the future of this country on whether they must continue with President Chakwera to continue inflicting untold sufferings to his citizens or not.
Kalindo said he has noted with a great concern that if there are civil servants suffering more are police officers but they are siding with evil giving their uniforms to MCP thugs to beat up people in town forgetting that them and their relatives are also suffering.
“We need special prayers for the country, MCP thugs dressing in Police uniforms, we have had parties before, but no party dressed up its youth in police uniforms, MCP has started it all,” said Kalindo.
He has warned President Chakwera to take an immediate action to stop MCP Ministers leading its youth in land grabbing observing that they have started in and around Natural Resources College in Lilongwe saying this is a recipe for civil war in Malawi.
Kalindo has finally warned MCP ministers that they have gain more powers invested in themselves, and the same powers, will silence them tomorrow thanking the MCP for growing more powerful than the MDF and Malawi Police Service (MPS) under the dynamic leadership of President Chakwera.
