A Call for National Rebirth: Time to Rewrite Malawi’s Story

By Comrade Jumbe President of the National Revolution Party (NRP)

Since 1964, we have walked through the corridors of independence with hope in our hearts, yet chains on our feet.

Year after year, government after government, our people have waited patiently for the fruits of freedom—prosperity, dignity, and justice. But instead, we have harvested poverty, inequality, and the cancer of corruption.

Why is it that, after decades of self-rule, Malawi remains a nation with potential unfulfilled and dreams deferred?

“A child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.”

This is where we are today. Our youth—brilliant, bold, and brimming with ideas—have been betrayed by a system that rewards connections over competence, bribes over brilliance, and silence over truth.

The old ways have failed us. It’s time to change the way we do things if we are to rise as a great and developed nation.

The National Revolution Party (NRP) is not just a political party. It is a movement of the tired and the determined, of the broken-hearted and the bold.

We come with one mission: to transform the soul of this nation.

We will not inherit broken systems and pretend to fix them. No—we will break the cycle completely and rebuild Malawi with integrity, innovation, and inclusion.

“You cannot cure a disease by feeding it.”
Corruption is our cancer. And I say it boldly: the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has become the face of that corruption in our generation. Under their watch, public coffers have turned into private bank accounts.

National projects have become family businesses. Public service has been replaced by political servitude.

But NRP comes with a sword of justice. Under our government, corruption will no longer be tolerated—it will be punished without mercy.

We will introduce strict laws that lock the door to our national treasury from political thieves.

We will ensure every Malawian kwacha serves its rightful purpose: building roads, healing patients, educating children, and feeding homes.

Our revolution is not born of anger but of wisdom. We do not seek revenge—we seek restoration.

We will root this country in values that are unshakable: transparency, patriotism, sacrifice, and accountability.

We will empower every citizen to participate in rebuilding our beloved Malawi.

Our schools must teach not just to pass exams, but to produce inventors. Our farms must feed not only homes, but industries. Our young men and women must be taught that they are not just job-seekers—they are nation-builders.

“If the rhythm of the drum beats changes, the dance must change too.”
It is time to change how we lead, how we govern, how we dream.

We must break away from the politics of slogans and embrace the politics of solutions.

NRP believes in radical transparency. Every budget, every policy, every tender shall be open to public scrutiny.

The time of darkness is over—Malawi must walk in the light.

I Comrade Jumbe, as President of the National Revolution Party, declare to every Malawian: the era of silence is over.

The revolution has begun. Let us rise as one nation—not divided by tribes, regions, or religion—but united by one desire: to see our country prosper.

“Until the lion learns to write, every story will glorify the hunter.”

Today, we write our own story. We will not wait for someone to save us.
We are the ones we have been waiting for.

Together, we will transform Malawi—from the dust of poverty to the throne of greatness.

Let the revolution begin.
