On 22nd August 2025, DPP/AFORD Alliance running mate, Justice Dr. Jane Ansah, visited Chitipa district, beginning her tour at the residence of Senior Chief Mwaulambya.
Chief Mwaulambya warmly welcomed Dr. Ansah and commended her for the visit, emphasizing the importance of the people’s mandate in a democratic government.
He noted that chiefs also have the right to vote and that they would choose leaders who understand the law.
The chief suggested the establishment of a chiefs’ council to discuss local affairs and contribute meaningfully to governance.
He attributed Dr. Ansah’s selection as running mate to divine providence and urged her to ensure integrity in governance if elected.
In her remarks, Dr. Jane Ansah, sent by Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to unpack the DPP manifesto to the people of Chitipa, highlighted that the manifesto is people-centered, with decentralization at its heart.
She explained that this approach would empower chiefs to control local affairs, aligning with Chief Mwaulambya’s request for a chiefs’ council.
Dr. Ansah praised Chief Mwaulambya for standing on the words of God and noted that God has heard the cry of Malawians.
She referenced the 2020 lessons, emphasizing the need for change in leadership.
Dr. Ansah pledged the DPP’s commitment to continuing development projects in Chitipa and highlighted the party’s dedication to governing constitutionally, recalling their involvement in the 1993 constitution formation.
She expressed gratitude to Senior Chief Mwaulambya for hosting them and reiterated the DPP’s promise to bring dedicated, knowledgeable, and experienced leaders to take Malawi forward.
