Kamphangala’s research establishes MCP leadership is a problem

By Vincent Gunde

A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, says his research in four Chewa dominated districts in the Central Region of Malawi has established that the Chewas love MCP than the leadership of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

Kamphangala said most of the Chewas have claimed that President Chakwera has not supported the Chewa tribe observing that the Chews are hardworking people but the leadership of President Chakwera has reduced them to beggars.

He said the Affordable Input Programme (AIP) introduced by the Chakwera’s government was an insult to them claiming that one, two or three people in a village benefited from the programme leaving many households helpless.

The MCP diehard has claimed that the leadership of President Chakwera has failed to unite the Chewas in the country claiming that the Chewas are still divided with the Chewa Heritage Foundation (CHEFO) seeming to be a darling of President Chakwera than the other Chewa tribal groupings.

Kamphangala said President Chakwera has proved himself to be not a listening President to the Chewas who from 2020 have been complaining of late receiving of Affordable Input Programme (AIP) citing fertilizer distribution which was being done in March-April when the maize has already reached tasseling stage.

He said he has for long been advising President Chakwera not to trust his inner circle claiming that they have been deceiving him that things are better in Malawi but President Chakwera paid a deaf ear to his advises taking it as useless.

The MCP diehard said he took his own initiative to travel to Salima, Nkhotakota, Ntchisi, and Kasungu leaving Dowa because he is living in the district to enquire their preparations ahead of the much-anticipated 16th September, 2025 elections on who to be voted for.

He said many Chewa people in the Central Region have expressed their strong interest to vote for MCP MPs and Councilors because they love the MCP but are divided with voting for President Chakwera claiming that he has no welfare of the Chewa people at heart.

“We voted for him to revamp ADMARC, to give us fertilizer in time and at affordable prices, but in turn, we have harvested hunger despite of our hardworking in the field,” said Kamphanagala.

He has informed President Chakwera that he should not be carried away by the figures that central region alone has over 3 million registers voters claiming that most of the Chewas have till this day not decided to vote for him, others are preferring to vote for Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

Kamphangala has assured President Chakwera that if the elections are conducted today without the Smartmatic machines, he and the MCP will lose miserably challenging him to send his trusted media team to villages to prove him wrong.

He has asked President Chakwera to be a born-again Christian by apologizing to all the Chewas in the Central Region for failing them other than hiding his failures attributing to Covid-19 pandemic, Tropical Cyclones, Cholera and other natural disasters plus DPP thieving in government.

Kamphangala has finally welcomed criticisms, finger-pointing against him for his research advising the MCP to cling to Mec Smartmatic machines to transmit election figures from constituencies to the main Tally centre in Lilongwe warning it that without this, they should forget about winning the 16th September, 2025 elections.
