Blantyre, Malawi – September 13, 2025 – United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi today wrapped up his campaign trail in Blantyre Rural with a rally in Maleule, drawing hundreds of enthusiastic supporters ahead of the September 16 Malawi elections.

Addressing the gathering, Muluzi emphasized that the upcoming polls are about “restoring hope, lowering food prices, and building a prosperous future where every Malawian has money in their pockets and food on their tables.”

The youthful UDF leader said Malawians are struggling with the high cost of living and lack of opportunities, promising that his government will prioritize economic reforms, affordable food prices, and job creation.

“This election is about the future of our children. It is about ensuring that no Malawian goes to bed hungry,” Muluzi told the cheering crowd.

The rally in Maleule marks the end of UDF’s campaign in Blantyre Rural. Muluzi is now set to lead his supporters to Mangochi, where the party will hold its highly anticipated Final Mega Rally before Malawians head to the ballot box on Tuesday.

Why Mangochi Matters for the UDF

Mangochi has historically been a stronghold for the UDF, and political analysts say the Mega Rally will be a critical test of the party’s popularity just two days before voting.

The UDF’s strategy has been to reconnect with grassroots voters while pushing messages of hope, unity, and economic revival. With Atupele Muluzi at the helm, the party aims to reassert itself as a major force in Malawi’s political landscape.
