Mighty Wanderers have reached the quarter finals of the 2025 FDH Bank Cup after defeating hosts Mzuzu City Hammers 1-2 in a match played at Rumphi Stadium in Rumphi yesterday.
Blessings Singini and Muhammad Sulumba scored in the Nomads’ round of eight qualification victory.

Singini scored in the 34th minute when he capitalised on a rebound after the first attempt by Wisdom Mpinganjira was blocked by the Hammers. Jeremia Kanyika of Mzuzu City Hammers pulled one for the hosts and it ended 1-2 in favour of Nomads.
In a post-match interview, Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira said: “It was not an easy game, we worked very hard to earn the win.”
Hammers coach Elias Chirambo accepted defeat, saying there were some individual mistakes.
In Lilongwe, capital city giants Silver Strikers FC took charge of the FDH Bank Round of 16 fixture against FC Shire as early as the fifth minute through Biwell Katinji in a game played at Civo Stadium.
It was Katinji again who spoiled the afternoon for Shire FC with Kalima providing the assist.
Silver Strikers made it 4-0 through a great pass from Dan Sandukira.
The hosts nearly pulled one back had it not been for a brilliant save from Silver goalkeeper George Chikooka.
Shire FC had a consolation goal with 21 minutes to full-time when Vincent Mark converted from the penalty spot after Maxwell Paipi had conceded a foul.
Coach Katchika Jere said they were let down by poor defence
