The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) says it is yet to decide on the fate of two ward councillor candidates whose names were discovered missing on ballot papers in Ighembe Ward, Karonga.

MEC Chairperson, Justice Annabel Mtalimanja, has told journalists during an afternoon press briefing at the Main Tally Centre at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe that the matter is still under review.

The two affected candidates are Adrian Masimbi an independent candidate and Muviwachilungamo Revolutionary Party aspirant Margret Mwakalinga, who were duly nominated by MEC ahead of the polls.

Justice Mtalimanja has said the Commission will make its position known once consultations are complete.
