Kamuzu Pa;lace in Lilongwe which for years since Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda occupied it, has been an honorable house built with taxpayers money for sitting Presidents and there have been no news coming out of it.

Dr. Kamuzu Banda, Dr. Bakili Muluzi, Professor Bingu wa Mutharika, Dr. Joyce Banda and Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika occupied it and go after losing the elections in peace but the opposite has happened with the MCP and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

Different groups of people were being ferried in hired buses, lorries and other means of transport to dine with President Chakwera at the State Lodges and at the end of the day, they were being given with transport reimbursement back home in hired vehicles.

Angered by the defeat in the 16th September, 2025 Presidential elections and President Chakwera’s acceptance of a defeat to Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, unknown people believed to be staff of the State House went on rampage destroying Kamuzu Palace taking advantage of the transition period.

Mutharika Announces Partial Cabinet: Enoch Chihana Named Second Vice President

There have been reports of cutting down of trees, hunting of wild animals inside Kamuzu Palace’s premise, running water spilled all over the place and rooms as pipes were vandalized and to make matters worse, some people smeared faeces on the walls of Kamuzu Palace.

Freedom fighter and activist Kamlepo Kalua has complained bitterly that Kamuzu Palace has been turned into a shame and he has never seen this before claiming that even in America, handover power is done in a cordial relationship and not with what has happened with President Chakwera.

Kalua speaking through an audio clip, has called on the newly appointed Inspector General of Police Richard Luhanga, Deputy Inspector General of Police responsible for operations Dr. Noel Kayira to arrest all those that have turned State House into a house of shame.

He said it is sad that there is 24 –hour guard at the State House and some people found their way in to vandalize property including water metres, electric cables, curtains, plates, spoons, and other materials without being noticed by security personnel.

The freedom fighter has called for urgency in arresting and prosecuting the culprits to account for their action and pay for all the expenses that have incurred at the Kamuzu Palace as a result of vandalizing property.

He has reminded the MCP that they are not the first to lose the elections saying in 2020 President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika left quietly to his unfinished Page House in Mangochi two weeks before the country held the court- sanctioned Presidential elections.

“Dr Kamuzu Banda, Dr. Bakili Muluzi, Professor Bingu wa Mutharika, Dr. Joyce Banda and Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika accepted to have lost the elections and they did not vandalize state house property,” said Kalua.

He has advised the MCP that Kamuzu Palace being in the central region of Malawi does not mean that it belongs to the MCP, observing that central region is in Malawi, State House is the house of honor to all Malawians regardless of their political party affiliations.
.
Kalua has advised all those with the state of affairs of Kamuzu Palace to circulate the pictures to SADC Heads of government claiming that the former Inspector General of Police Marylyn Nachulu Yolamu and the Deputy Inspector General of Police Ackis Muwanga must be brought to book
