In an early-morning visit on Friday, 21 November 2025, Vice President of the Republic of Malawi, Dr. Jane Mayemu Ansah SC, JA. (Retired), paid an unannounced call to the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA).
The surprise visit allowed her to engage directly with officials and gain a first-hand understanding of the department’s work and ongoing programmes.
During her time at the Capital Hill office in Lilongwe, Vice President Ansah emphasised the importance of addressing disaster management issues with urgency and precision.
DoDMA staff provided briefings on current operations, highlighting challenges faced in coordinating disaster preparedness and response across the country.
The Vice President used the opportunity to encourage the team to remain committed to ensuring effective service delivery and the safety of communities nationwide.

The early-morning engagement demonstrated her dedication to supporting government institutions in strengthening disaster management systems for the benefit of all Malawians.
