The Muslim Association of Malawi (Mam) says a meeting between its chairman, Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad, and the Qatar government has led to a pledge to support development projects benefiting Muslims and the country as a whole.

Mam spokesperson, Sheikh Dinala Chabulika, said this on the sideline of the the meeting which was held earlier this week in Doha, Qatar.

“The visit was organised by the Qatar rs, government, and our talks focused on supporting development projects that will benefit Muslims in Malawi in particular and Malawi at large. The meeting was led by the Minister of Religious Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghamin,” he said.

He added that while in Qatar, Mam leadership met with organisations doing charity and development work, with plans to bring their projects to Malawi to benefit Muslims.

“We also informed the Qatar government about Malawi’s new leadership, elected on September 16, and stressed the need for collaboration on development projects,” said Chabulika.
