U.S. military installations across the Middle East have suffered extensive damage from Iranian missile and drone attacks, leaving many bases largely uninhabitable, officials report. Bases in Kuwait, including Ali Al Salem Air Base and Camp Arifjan, appear to have sustained the heaviest damage.

According to The New York Times, U.S. forces have dispersed personnel to temporary sites, including hotels and mobile command posts, as a precaution against further strikes. While some bases remain operational, infrastructure damage has disrupted logistics, communications, and command operations.

The attacks are part of a wider conflict following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian sites in February 2026, which triggered retaliatory attacks across the region. U.S. military leaders are adapting by relying more on dispersed, sea-based, and mobile operations.
