BALAKA — On Saturday 13th June 2026, the Dr Jane Ansah Foundation visited a rural community in Balaka where Mr. and Mrs. Mitochi are raising three children born with severe physical disabilities.Vice-President Jane Ansah hosts “Thank You” Rally in Mangochi

The couple said they first understood the full extent of their children’s condition after a hospital visit, where doctors determined the children could not sit unaided due to weak skeletal bones.

“This is the challenge we face as a family,” Mr. and Mrs. Mitochi said, describing the strain on both their limited resources and emotional wellbeing.

Their situation came to the attention of the Dr Jane Ansah Foundation during an outreach visit to Rivirivi under Traditional Authority Nsamala in November 2025.BMTV calls Justice Jane Ansah’s loyalty to Mutharika

During that visit, Lewis Kamundi, Director of Operations for the Foundation, met the Mitochi family and assessed the challenges of caring for three children with disabilities in difficult living conditions.

Following the assessment, the Foundation returned on Saturday 13th June to provide immediate assistance.

The family received relief items including soya pieces, maize flour, diapers, cooking oil, a football, kamba, and cash to help meet their daily needs.Vice President Dr Jane Ansah joins Good Friday procession at Mtima Woyera Parish

The Mitochis also recounted the loss of their first-born child during a period when the household had no food and no means to secure basic necessities.

Lewis Kamundi extended his condolences to the family and reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable households.
