Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Chief, Policy, Strategy and Plans and former Commandant of the National Defence College – Malawi Brigadier General Professor Dan Kuwali, has appealed to the Parliamentary Adhoc Committee to find a way of stopping conspiracy theories by people spreading rumours or allegations that some individuals in the MDF played a role in the killing of Dr. Saulosi Chilima, and eight others, in the Chikangawa forest.
Professor Kuwali said these allegations are very serious claiming that it is the Adhoc Committee that is mandated to investigate circumstances surrounding the plane crash and the tragic death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others.
He said even if he has other means of getting these individuals to book but he need the committee’s support because spreading rumours is not good.
Appearing before the Adhoc Committee on Thursday Professor Kuwali argued that some of the officers have families, have children and they are uncle’s saying to allow unpatriotic citizens spreading false rumours, is not okay.
” My sincere apologies for being emotional but I have to say, we are all patriotic and law abiding citizens, please support and help,” said Brigadier General Kuwali.
He praised the Adhoc Chairperson Walter Nyamilandu Manda and the entire team of investigators to keep up the good work advising the committee to get to the bottom of the issue at hand in the interest of all.
In his remarks, Walter Nyamilandu Manda assured Brigadier General Professor Kuwali that it is the duty of Parliament to defend and protect citizens who are appearing before the committee to providing evidence for justice to be seen in the circumstances surrounding the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others.
“We are going to discuss this concern,” he said.
In one of video clips making the allegation for the last time, Activist Ben Chiza Mkandawire named Brigadier General Professor Dan Kuwali as number one suspect in the murder of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, in the Chikangawa forest on Monday, 10th June, 2024.
Mkandawire said for a long time some people have been accusing him of being against Professor Dan Kuwali but the truth was set by former Minister of Defence in the MCP government under President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera – Harry Mkandawire who implicated him.
He said Professor Kuwali is the masterminder of the lie Dr. Lazarus Chakwera made to the nation that the plane reached Mzuzu and returned to Lilongwe.
The Activist said what is paining him most is that Dr. Saulosi Chilima and Professor Dan Kuwali were good friends just the same as he and Allan Ntata and Allan masterminding his death.
