The body of the late Traditional Authority (T.A.) Thukuta, who died on Monday, was laid to rest on Tuesday at his headquarters in Thyolo. Traditional Authority Thukuta, whose real name was John Waison, aged 63, succumbed to Pneumonia on Monday at Fatima Hospital in Nsanje District. Speaking on behalf of President Lazarus Chakwera, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Halima Daud said the Malawi leader who is currently out of the country, was deeply shocked with the death of the Chief. “I do not have a lot to say, but only to offer advice to the bereaved family to choose the right person to succeed the departed chief and would also urge relevant stakeholders to help this family when it comes to choosing the right replacement,” she said. The Speaker of Parliament, Catherine Gotan Hara, has bow down to court order which restrict the leader of opposition, Kondwani Nankhumwa, from moving Mangochi south lawmaker Shadrek Namalomba, from his seat. Nullifying the changes, Gotan Hara said Namalomba should return to his number 25 seat from 100 which he was given by Nankhumwa following the court order to do so. The Speaker has since suspended deliberations in order to comply with the Court order. Two notorious Lilongwe Street Kids Arrested In Lilongwe

he Malawi Police in Lilongwe have arrested two street kids in connection to the robbery at Santa Plaza, Lilongwe Bridge and Crossroads Hotel. The Lilongwe Police Station Deputy Public Relations Officer Foster Benjamin, said the duo, aged 16 and 17, was arrested on Friday March 11, 2022 after committing the crime on Thursday night. Benjamin added that Police have since recovered some of the items during the Friday arrest. He further said that the recoveries include two laptops, three plasma screens, one desktop , four chairs and four solar panels. Meanwhile, one apple laptop has been positively identified by its owner-an Italian national. The suspects will appear in court soon to answer charges of robbery and malicious damage.
