Chakwera Calls Speedy Investigations On Abduction Of Namiwa

President Lazarus Chakwera has called for speedy investigations into the alleged abduction of human rights advocate Sylvester Namiwa.

This is contained in a statement signed by Anthony Kasunda, presidential press secretary.

Since yesterday, there have been reports that Namiwa has been abducted by some unknown people who took the advocate to undisclosed location.

Meanwhile, president Chakwera through his press secretary has said he is disturbed with the alleged kidnapping of Namiwa, saying it is against one of his leadership principles under the super hi-5, which is the rule of law.

“The president remains resolute in his commitment to fight against any forces challenging government efforts to keep Malawi a free society in which every citizen enjoys their rights as enshrined in the constitution of the republic of Malawi,” reads part of the statement.

With this the president has condemned the unlawfulness of the act while calling on law enforcers to speed up their investigations into the matter until Namiwa is found
