Multi-Stakeholders Group (MSG) Chairperson at Construction Sector Transparency (CoST) Joe Ching’ani says he is passionate about youth development in Ntcheu South Constituency to nurture their talents in skills and sports development and economic empowerment.
Speaking on Sunday at Kanyungwi Ground at Manjawira in Ntcheu during finals of the K3.5 million Joe Ching’ani Football and Netball Bonanza, Ching’ani said sports is a big business the world over has apart from treating people to a rare dish of top-notch entertainment.
“I have a very loft vision for youth of this area and I would like to promote skills and economic development through briquettes making, afforestation drive and sports development. I have actually spent over K4.5million through transport and logistical support and I promise to come back even stronger next year,” he said.
Ziyale Football Club captain, Mika Lengisi said the bonanza has helped to nurture and unearth raw talent from the area with Matembo Saka roped in by Civil Sporting United but currently on loan to St Gabriel, apart from deterring youths from indulging in bad behaviour.
Joe Ching’ani Football and Netball Bonanza organising chairperson, Enex Kachinangwa said the bonanza which saw 60 football and 30 netball clubs participating since May this year has been a huge success as a nursery for talent identification.
“We are grateful to Engineer Ching’ani for his selflessness and unwavering commitment to improving lives of the youth in this area. He supported them in briquettes making, afforestation drive and now football and netball bonanza,” he said.
Eight zones of Chikowa/Kam’mwamba Mtonda, Senzani, Manjawira, Likudzi, Jumbe, Matchezera and Bayani participated in the bonanza which saw Ziyale FC emerging winners and Dzawila FC as runners up in football while Matchereza Sisters beat Kia Sisters in netball respectively.
