Mzuzu, January 4: Step son of former President Arthur Peter Mutharika, Tadikira Mafubza who was arrested in connection to a mass grave which was discovered at Mtangatanga Forest Reserve in Mzimba late last year will appear before Mzuzu High Court on January 11, 2023 for bail hearing.
Mafubza who has been on remand at Maula Prison since his arrest on November 23 is facing murder and human trafficking charges, both allegedly connected to a mass grave which contained 30 bodies of people who are believed to be Ethiopian immigrants at Mtangatanga Forest Reserve in Mzimba.
The bail hearing comes a month after Chief Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza committed the case to Mzuzu High Court.
Both Mafubza’s lawyer, Gilbert Nkhonyongwa and Registrar of Mzuzu High Court Kondwani Banda have since confirmed the development separately, saying hearing of the case will start at 9 o’clock in the morning, on January 11, 2023 before Justice Gladys Gondwe.
Mafubza is answering the charges alongside four other suspects namely David Luhanga, Thomas Gidson, Samuel Navaya and Duncan Kalulu
