Schools in Blantyre and Lilongwe will reopen next week with emphasis on strict adherence to measures to prevent further spread of Cholera.
Health Minister and Co-chaiperson of the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 and Cholera, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda has disclosed this at a media briefing in Lilongwe.
The Taskforce says it has arrived at the decision to reopen the schools after an evaluation of the efforts to put in place preventive measures in schools and other public gathering places.
Chiponda says despite the rise in Cholera cases there is an encouraging improvement on the number of deaths which are now dropping.
She added cumulatively 127 cholera cases involve school going children resulting in 8 deaths.
