President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera arrived in Beijing on Monday to attend the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), slated for 4th to 6th September 2024.
President Chakwera accompanied by the First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera arrived in China, through Beijing Capital International Airport and were welcomed by China’s Ms. Cao Shumin, Head of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, Beiijing Municipal Vice Chairman, Mr. Han and Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, and Malawi Ambassador to China, Allan Chintedza.
President Chakwera will on Monday evening hold bilateral talks with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, and be hosted to a dinner at the Diaoyutai State Guest House.
A key highlight of Chakwera’s trip to China, aside from attending the Focac, will be the bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart, President Jinping.
During his stay in China, the president will also engage in high-level meetings with Chinese companies and other senior government officials.
Preparations for the 4th Focac Summit, scheduled to open on Wednesday at the Great Hall of the People, are currently underway, with the senior officials meeting already in progress.
