Lilongwe, Malawi – FDH Bank Plc has made a significant contribution of K6 million to the Economics Association of Malawi (ECAMA) in support of its upcoming Annual Lake Conference. The event, set to be held under the theme “Economic Priorities in Vulnerable Nation”, aims to address the pressing economic challenges Malawi faces.
FDH Bank Plc’s Public Relations Manager, Lorraine Chikhula, symbolically handed over the donation to ECAMA Acting President, Dr. Bertha Bangara-Chikadza. The handover highlights FDH Bank’s commitment to fostering economic dialogue and development in the country.
In her remarks, Chikhula emphasized the importance of supporting platforms like ECAMA’s conference, which provide a space for experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to deliberate on economic strategies in the face of global and local vulnerabilities.
“We believe that platforms like these contribute significantly to shaping the nation’s economic landscape, especially at a time when we need clear priorities to mitigate economic shocks,” said Chikhula during the handover ceremony.
Dr. Bangara-Chikadza expressed gratitude to FDH Bank for their continued support, noting that the contribution will play a key role in ensuring the success of the conference, where key discussions on economic sustainability and resilience are expected to take center stage.
The Annual Lake Conference is a flagship event for ECAMA, bringing together economists, business leaders, and government officials to explore solutions to Malawi’s economic challenges. This year’s theme underscores the importance of setting clear priorities to help the nation navigate through vulnerabilities such as climate change, global economic instability, and domestic structural issues.
The conference is expected to attract wide participation from both the public and private sectors, with the aim of forging actionable strategies for economic growth and resilience.
