Community Policing Coordinator for Limbe Police Station Assistant Superintendent Cajetan Singano, on Friday engaged male teachers at St. Maria Goretti Girls Primary School on the station’s drive towards child protection.
Singano sensitised the male teachers on the criminality of teacher involvement in sexual relationships with learners as well as any activity that might be deemed sexual.
“As male teachers, we must always be cautious to not give room the possibility of finding ourselves facing either allegations or temptation of any sexual related offence. We must avoid unnecessary familiarity with pupils outside school work,” Singano ad.
He also took time to interact with the learners to discuss health hazards that are associated with sex with minors and child marriages.
He, therefore, encouraged leaners to report to head teachers or police any case of sex enticement and all matters relating sex.
Singano also used the interaction to advise the learners to follow all weather perceptional measures to avoid rainy season accidents such as drowning in flooded rivers and deep drains within their localities.
St Maria Gorreti Head Teacher, Moliday Ndovi, thanked Limbe Police for the awareness and encouraged the Community Policing Coordinator to visit the school again for another encouragement with teachers and learners.
St. Maria Goretti Girls Primary School has a total number of 1,774 learners.
