FAM disciplinary committee has thrown out Silver Strikers appeal against competitions subcommittee ruling on the club’s protest over Panthers’ fielding of ineligible players Taniel Mhango and Aggrey Msowoya.
A verdict signed by the committee’s chairperson Felix Mipande reads in part: “It is this committee’s finding that there is no procedure and therefore, no possibility for a club to lodge a protest over fielding of an ineligible player after the match.
“This finding is made with deep sympathy to Silver Strikers FC because as they demonstrated, they had no way of discovering the ineligible players which were fielded by the Panthers FC because the players had changed their names.
“This committee therefore upholds the finding of the FAM competitions committee which found Silver Strikers FC’s protest a day after the match inadmissible. The protest was indeed inadmissible.
“In the generality of it all, the appeal by Silver Strikers fails. The committee finds that the competitions committee rightly found the protest by Silver Strikers inadmissible.”
The verdict confirms Silver’s elimination from Castel Challenge Cup after the Bankers lost to the lower league side on post-match penalties.
Panthers FC will play Chitipa United this Saturday in the round of 16.
