On the afternoon of Tuesday, April 15, 2025, His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and his wife, Madame Professor Gertrude Mutharika, hosted a solemn and spiritually-charged prayer service at their Page House residence. The event brought together a delegation of pastors from the Nkhoma Synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP), signaling a moment of reflection and unity as Malawi prepares for the September 2025 general elections.

The pastors, drawn from various presbyteries across the Central Region, represented districts such as Mchinji, Kasungu, Salima, Dowa, Dedza, and Ntchisi. Their collective presence symbolized a rare act of pastoral solidarity and national prayer, with many describing the occasion as a significant spiritual engagement during a politically tense period. The pastors offered prayers for peace, wisdom, and guidance, with a special focus on Professor Mutharika and the role he continues to play in Malawi’s political landscape.

Notably, the clergy also extended their well-wishes to the former First Couple as they continue to engage with citizens ahead of the upcoming elections. Their prayers highlighted the importance of godly leadership, peace during the election season, and national unity. The gesture was seen by many as both a spiritual endorsement and a call for continued prayer in a time when Malawians are yearning for change and direction.

The event was also graced by several high-ranking officials from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), including the party’s Vice President for the Central Region, Honourable Alfred Gangata; Regional Governor, Honourable David Kambalame; Director of Youth, Honourable Norman Chisale; and senior member, Booker Matemvu. Their attendance reinforced the DPP’s ongoing preparations for the 2025 elections and illustrated a strong connection between faith and political engagement within the party’s leadership.
