The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has distanced itself from reports that it has recommended names of individuals for the President to include in the next cabinet.
Speaking to MBC, the National Publicity Secretary for the MCP, Reverend Maurice Munthali, said the secretariat of the party can not in any way hijack the constitutional prerogative of the State President in constituting a cabinet.

Reverend Munthali said the MCP secretariat is concerned with the abuse of the name of the party by fraudsters.
