Robbery Suspect Dies, Stolen Property Recovered

A robbery suspect, George Pailoti, who was shot in the thigh as he tried to escape arrest in Naperi during the night of Sunday, March 5, 2023, has died while receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre, National Police publicist Peter Kalaya has confirmed.

Kalaya said police have also recovered property suspected to have been stolen from the suspect’s house and his accomplices’ homes.

Kalaya said Pailoti was arrested at around 8 pm on Sunday together with his accomplices, Silence Kambuzi, 38 and Wyson Sinoya, 52.

He said the trio confessed to having been connected to five cases that were recently recorded in the city of Blantyre.

Among the recovered items are TV screens, home theatres, a solar pump, GoTV decoders, pressing irons, and DVD players.
