Barcelona have made some big changes to their captaincy group for the new 2024-25 La Liga season.
The Catalans have named five players (rather than the usual four) as the team’s captains, with Raphinha and Pedri added to the list.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen takes over the armband from departed skipper Sergi Roberto, while Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong will move up to second and third captains.

Yet Pedri and Raphinha have also been added to the group after a vote by the squad. Pedri is the youngest of the five at the age of 21 but has already made well over 100 appearances for the club.
Raphinha is also perhaps a surprise inclusion, over the likes of experienced striker Robert Lewandowski or Gavi, but is clearly a well respected and popular member of the lock room
