By Burnett Munthali

UTM Secretary General Patricia Kaliati has officially submitted her candidacy for the position of party president ahead of the upcoming UTM leadership convention. This significant step places her among those vying for the top leadership role within the party, highlighting her ambition to lead UTM into a new era.

Kaliati made her submission at UTM’s headquarters, accompanied by her husband, and also paid the required nomination fee of 10 million kwacha. Her entry into the race underscores the competitive nature of this year’s convention, as she is well-known for her strong voice within the party and has been a key figure in shaping UTM’s policies and strategies.

The UTM convention, scheduled for November 17 this year, is expected to draw high interest and participation as the party seeks to elect its new leaders. The event will not only determine the future leadership of the party but also set the direction for UTM’s approach in the national political landscape.

With her extensive experience and dedication to UTM’s mission, Kaliati’s candidacy has sparked discussions among party members and political analysts alike, as they anticipate a dynamic and competitive convention later this month.
