Blue Eagles FC have been crowned champions of the Chipiku Stores Central Region Premier League and secured their immediate return to the TNM Super League with two games to spare. The police outfit sealed the title with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Armour Battalion at the ADL ground in Lilongwe, much to the delight of their passionate supporters.
With a draw enough to clinch the league title, Blue Eagles delivered a stellar performance, securing all three points with goals from Patrick Mponda, Maxwell Gustavo, Paul Master, and Checkson Alinzi. Lumbani Mkandawire scored a solitary goal for Armour Battalion, but it was not enough to stop the Eagles from flying high.
The victory puts Blue Eagles firmly at the top of the Central Region Premier League standings with an insurmountable 54 points from 20 matches. Their remarkable achievement also marks their return to the top flight of Malawian football, the TNM Super League, after a season in the second-tier league.
Currently, Villa FC sits in second place with 40 points from 19 matches. Despite their valiant efforts, they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Namitete Zitha FC in their latest outing, leaving them with no chance to catch up with the Eagles.
Blue Eagles’ victory is not just about their league triumph; they also added the FDH Bank Cup to their trophy cabinet earlier this season, proving their dominance in both league and cup competitions. Their return to the TNM Super League will be highly anticipated, with fans eager to see how they perform at the top level once again.
The win over Armour Battalion also reflects the strength and resilience of Blue Eagles, a team that has been consistent and focused throughout the season. With two games left to play, they will look to finish the season on a high, cementing their place as the champions of the Central Region Premier League.
For now, Blue Eagles will bask in the glory of their success as they prepare for their return to the TNM Super League, where they will look to make an impact and continue their legacy in Malawian football.
