CRFA Elections: The Central Region Football Association (CRFA) has set February 8, 2025, as the date for its elective general meeting, which will be held in either Dowa district or Lilongwe, the capital city.

With the nomination period being from January 22 to February 2, the incumbent General Secretary Antonio Manda has confirmed his bid for re-election, highlighting his achievements and vision for the future.

Manda, who took over as CRFA General Secretary in December 2023, following the election of his predecessor, Bernard Harawa, to the Football Association of Malawi’s Executive Committee, pointed to significant progress in league management, addressing hooliganism, and improving overall operations.

“Since taking over from Harawa in December 2023, I have ensured that our district formations are fully involved in running the game,” Manda said. “This has led to securing sponsorships from Creck Hardware, His Grace Ministries, Tam-Tam, and St. Louis High School.”

Manda further emphasized that strengthening relationships with district committees and sponsors resulting in notable partnerships and increased support from Chipiku Stores.

This, he believes, has not only enhanced the game but also contributed to the success of teams like Creck Sporting FC, which finished sixth in the TNM Super League.

Other notable achievements under Manda’s tenure include:

  • Introduction of the “Man of the Match” award
  • Improved engagement with coaches, referees, and supporters
  • Historic victory and promotion of the regional teams Blue Eagles and Panthers FC in the National Cups

The chairperson’s race will see incumbent Austin Ajawa facing his deputy, Goodall Chinjoka. Felix Kamba has declared his candidacy for the Vice Chairperson position, while Wales Kazonde seeks to retain his Vice General Secretary post.

Incumbent Charles Selemani is being challenged by Hastings Chilunga for the Treasurer General position.
