President and Commander in Chief of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah, has condemned in strongest terms possible the arbitrary arrest of activist Lytone Mangochi and opposition DPP members basing on free speech and freedom of press in Malawi.
Jumah said Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is not only arresting activists and opposition party members but hunting them for political persecutions warning the MCP that Malawians will speak louder on the 16th September, 2025 when they will give a sympathy vote to the DPP.
He said in 5 year’s office of the MCP, government has lost all the cases it had with activists and opposition DPP members describing this as a warning to the party that God is angry with them demanding the release of Lytone Mangochi from Police custody.
Speaking through a Revolutionary voice, Jumah has condemned the Police for breaking the house and doors of Mangochi and taking him out of the house while naked during his arrest in Karonga questioning the Police that is this the Reformed police of 1994?
Jumah has advised police officers that they should thoroughly investigate the suspect and by the time they are going to pick him, they should go with a Warrant of Arrest and not the arrest which happened to Mangochi claiming that he was arrested by MCP police.
“It is sad that the Malawi Police under the MCP is not reformed as it was in 1994, arresting an activist during the middle of the night and without a Warrant of Arrest,” he said.
The MRP President said politicians in Malawi are the same they don’t know why they are there claiming that most of them have forgotten their roles to serve the people but to get rich at the expense of the suffering Malawians.
He has noted with a great concern that Malawi which was once a role model in democracy has now been turned into a dictatorship nation because its politicians are gullible for money through absolute powers invested in themselves.
“When the President is visiting the south, he is being stoned and insulted and when opposition parties and activists are holding peaceful demonstrations in Lilongwe, they are being hacked by MCP thugs with pangas with the police firing teargases,” said Jumah.
He has urged Malawians not to allow their country fall claiming that the democracy which is being cherished today, did not come on a silver platter, there were bloodshed, exiles, mysterious death of people and some others were thrown into the Shire River as crocodile meat.
Junah said it is the blood of Dunduzu and Yatuta Chisiza, Manowa Chirwa, Orton Chirwa, William Kanyama Chiume, Henry Masauko Chipembere and others, including members of the Jehovas Witnesses that have made the country’s democracy to live on 14th June, 1993.
He said the MCP of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has destroyed the very same foundations of democracy of 14th June, 1993 by bringing in the wall of silence through intimidations, terror and threatening people with arrests describing the detaining and arresting of activists as a betrayal of the hard-won democracy urging Malawians not to tolerate this.
