The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is intensifying its preparations for the upcoming September 16 tripartite elections, with senior party leaders reaffirming their commitment and readiness to return to power under the leadership of former President Peter Mutharika.
Speaking at a well-attended political rally held at Lunzu Primary School ground in Blantyre, DPP Vice President for the Southern Region, Joseph Mwanamveka, assured supporters that Mutharika remains the party’s torchbearer and is in good health.
“Despite the bad rumors circulating on social media about Professor Mutharika’s health, I want to make it clear to all Malawians that he is fit, strong, and ready to lead the country once again,” Mwanamveka declared to a cheering crowd.
The rally brought together key figures within the party, including DPP Regional Governor Charles Mchacha, National Organizing Secretary Sameer Suleman, National Director of Women Mary Navitcha, Presidential Adviser Francis Mphepo, and Director of Women for the Southern Region Maria Mainja.
The event served not only as a demonstration of the party’s organizational strength but also as a morale booster for its grassroots base, as the DPP looks to solidify support and counter speculation ahead of the general elections.
With Mutharika poised to return to the ballot, party leaders say they are confident that the DPP remains the best alternative for national development and good governance.
