The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president, Fleetwood Haiya, has been appointed as a member of the FIFA Future of Football Committee, a prestigious platform that advises on strategic plans, policies and reforms for the global football community.
Writing on his Facebook page, Haiya said he was truly honoured and humbled to have been appointed to this role.

“The committee’s purpose is to ensure football remains relevant, resilient, equitable and globally sustainable, while effectively managing emerging trends,” said Haiya.
As a member of the committee, Haiya pledged to serve with dedication, integrity and a forward-looking mindset.
“I carry with me the voice of Malawi, Africa and future generations, committed to shaping a football landscape that unites, inspires, and endures,” he emphasised.
Haiya pledges financial stability to super league clubs
This appointment is a testament to Haiya’s leadership and expertise in football administration.
His contributions to the FIFA Future of Football Committee are eagerly anticipated and his dedication to promoting football in Malawi is expected to have a lasting impact on the sport.
Meanwhile, FAM executive committee member and chairperson of the country’s football governing body’s competitions and marketing committee, Felister Dossi has been appointed to serve in the FIFA legal committee.
The two will serve in their respective capacities between 2025 and 2029.
