Mutharika Appoints New Ministers and Executive Assistant to Strengthen Administration

His Excellency President Peter Mutharika has made key appointments aimed at strengthening his administration and enhancing service delivery in critical sectors of the Malawian economy.

In a statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet, Roza Fatch Mbilizi has been appointed as the new Minister of Agriculture, while George Partridge takes over as Minister of Industrialization, Business, Trade, and Tourism.

The President has also appointed Dr. Max Wangawenga as Executive Assistant to the President, a position expected to play a pivotal role in coordinating key government initiatives and supporting the President’s office.

According to the statement, all the appointments are with immediate effect.

The reshuffle is seen as part of President Mutharika’s broader strategy to revitalize his government, improve efficiency, and drive economic growth through agriculture, trade, and industrialization — sectors that are central to Malawi’s development agenda.

Analysts say the appointment of Roza Mbilizi, a respected administrator with experience in public service, signals renewed focus on agricultural productivity and food security, while George Partridge, a seasoned business leader, is expected to boost industrialization and private sector development.

The inclusion of Dr. Max Wangawenga as Executive Assistant is also viewed as a move to improve strategic coordination within the presidency, ensuring timely execution of government priorities.

The new appointments mark another milestone in President Mutharika’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, promote economic growth, and deliver tangible results for Malawians.
