Political activist Bon Kalindo, says Malawians should expect no arrest from Amaryllis Hotel sale saying if the matter was involving poor people, all would have been in prison by today.
Kalindo said Malawian money has been up for grabs by politicians for years and all those who have been accused of abusing taxpayers money have either been asked to pay back what they stole in government or receiving presidential pardon.
He said the matter of Amaryllis Hotel is for the big politicians and not for poor people and as such, Malawians have no part to play in the Amaryllis Hotel sale, there part is to continue mourning for their country where corruption fight is only just on paper.
Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said it is sad to note that politicians names are being hidden in the Amaryllis Hotel sale, clearly speaking for itself that politicians shield each other.
Kalindo said it is not only Amaryllis Hotel sale where civil servants money has been abused by politicians claiming that there is Teachers Council of Malawi ( TCM) and Teachers Union of Malawi ( TUM).
He said these two teachers bodies have been milking teachers who already receive low salaries for years but there’s no accountability and transparency in their offices.
The activist said teachers are being deducted from their salaries as monthly contributions to TUM questioning the authorities at TUM that what do they do with the money from teachers? The answer is zero.
He said there’s now a new Teachers Council of Malawi where teachers were asked to pay for licenses claiming that almost all teachers in Malawi paid but the question remain, how many have received teaching licenses? The answer is only a few, many are yet to receive.
Kalindo said what is now paining most of the teachers is that there’s a memo which all teachers in Malawi are being asked to renew their teaching licenses, renewing is not for free, money will be paid.
He has asked the TCM not to take teachers as there garden for money questioning them how do they expect a teacher to renew his or her teaching license when he has not received one, describing this as nonsense.
” Do not play with the souls of people that are already crying for low salaries in government and you are continuing abusing their money,” said Kalindo.
He has also appealed to government to put deliberate policies that will put persons with disabilities as productive citizens of the country lamenting that as it is today, these people are being treated as beggars.
He has finally appealed to all Malawians to put these persons with disabilities in the forefront saying some of them can deliver if they are given chance hence, they should not suffer exclusion in the society they are living.
