FAM to Roll Out CAF A Licence Coaching Course for Malawi’s Top League Coaches
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced that coaches from the country’s top football leagues will be the first beneficiaries of the newly approved CAF A Licence coaching course, marking a significant step in improving coaching standards across Malawi.
The development follows approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which has authorised Malawi to host the prestigious CAF A Licence course after FAM successfully fulfilled all the required accreditation procedures.Kamuzu Barracks part ways with coach Charles Kamanga
FAM Technical Director Yvon Avry said the initial intake will target coaches currently working in the FDH Bank Premiership, National Division League and Women’s National League, provided they already possess a CAF B Licence.
According to Avry, FAM is compiling a list of eligible coaches and will work closely with the Coaches Association of Malawi to identify and select the first group of participants.

The CAF A Licence is one of Africa’s highest coaching qualifications and equips coaches with advanced tactical, technical, leadership and player development skills. FAM President Fleetwood Haiya described the return of the CAF A Licence programme as a major milestone in the association’s long-term strategy to transform football in Malawi through investment in technical expertise and coach education.
Haiya said enhancing the quality of coaches will ultimately improve player development, club performance and the competitiveness of Malawian football on the continental stage.

The reintroduction of the course is expected to increase the number of highly qualified coaches in the country and strengthen the overall standard of football development at club and national team level.
