Attorney General Hires Kalekeni Kaphale For Chizuma Interdiction Judicial Review

Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda has appointed former Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale to represent the Chief Resident Magistrate in a judicial review case into the interdiction of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma.

The notice of appointment by Chakaka Nyirenda made pursuant to section 98 (2) of the Constitution.

The development comes after the Malawi Law Society (MLS), on Monday this week sued Prosecutor Levison Mangani, the Chief Resident Magistrate (Lilongwe), and Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Collen Zamba, over the interdiction of Chizuma and sought permission for judicial review in the matter.

Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba, interdicted Chizuma over a leaked audio clip in which the ACB boss made several allegations against some public officers including a judge and the then Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) before she was sued for criminal charges. –
