Chakwera Silently Left For Egypt To Attend The United Nations Annual Conference

President Lazarus Chakwera has this morning silently left for Egypt to attend the United Nations’ 27th Annual Conference of the Parties (COP27).

Egypt’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Sameh Shoukry will preside over the event; that runs from 6-18 November in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Some feel the president should have delegated his minister for him to stay and provide decisive and practical solutions to address the country’s bedridden economy.

In most parts, there are long queues of vehicles in dry pump stations where motorists enduring scorching sun are fighting with hope for fuel availability and stabilization.

But Chakwera has ignored such calls and proceeded to board a flight out; insisting they are going to lobby with developed countries to fulfill their funding promise on climate change.

This is the fourth time the Malawi leader travels out despite his pledge in June this year that his foreign trips would not exceed three by December to save costs in line with the austerity measures his Tonse administration announced.
