South African Singer Zodwa Wabantu Rejected To Perform In Malawi

The Ministry of tourism , culture and wildlife has rejected an application by organisers of Winter Amapiano Vibes for South African socialite Zodwa Wabantu famed for her nearly nude performances to grace the show.

The show is due to take place at Dominic Hotel in Blantyre on 10th June.

An earlier call by the ministry sparked a social media debate with some people arguing the move was a violation of rights.

But in a latest statement, the ministry says together with the Malawi Censorship Board, they feel that Zodwa’s actions are immoral and contrary to Malawi’s cultural tenets.

Recent reports suggest, the organisers suggested that Zodwa will instead support compatriot Vukani at the show.

But the ministry says it has not cleared her presence in Malawi.

” The ministry has not cleared Zodwa to perform in Malawi or be part of the event in any capacity. The application by the organizers has been turned down, “reads the statement in part.

According to Charley Simwaka, Secretary for tourism and culture who has penned the statement, the ministry of Homeland security will now have to enforce immigration laws for Zodwa not to enter the country when the show is taking place.
