20 thousand households in Mchinji District To Benefit From K1 Billion

Over 20 thousand households in Mchinji district stand to benefit from at least K1 billion that the Department of Disasters Management Affairs-DODMA has set aside targeting the national figure of 4 million food insecure households.

The exercise will run for three months beginning January 2023 and each household will be receiving K25, 000.

DODMA Deputy Director for Resilience, Hastings Mwanjoka said in Mchinji on Friday, the relief program is not excluding beneficiaries of social protection program and that they are using already existing community structures to identify beneficiaries.

“Each household will receive MK 25,000 for three months even those that are already benefitting with social protection programs,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mchinji District Council Chairperson, Dennis Lazaro, has vowed to ensure that only those earmarked to benefit with the relief program are the ones getting the money.
