President Lazarus Chakwera has ordered Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba to release the report on the Commission of Inquiry into circumstances leading to the questionable arrest of the Anti-Corruption Bureau chief, Martha Chizuma.
His Press Secretary, Anthony Kasunda says the president received the report today, Tuesday from Chairperson of the Commission, retired Supreme Court of Appeal, Justice Edward Twea.
He adds the president “will make further orders and actions upon consideration of both the short and long terms recommendations made to him.”
The Malawi leader had given the Commission 14 working days to establish the truth behind Chizuma’s arrest in the wee hours of December 6 2022 by a gang of armed police officers at her house.
Director of Public Prosecutions, Steven Kayuni is currently on suspension following the issue.
There were doubts Chakwera would make the report public after keeping under wraps another report on Public Sector Reforms submitted to him two years ago.
