A meeting by some members of the former governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is underway at Illala Crest Lodge in Mzuzu, where they are discussing the candidature of Kondwani Nankhumwa at the party’s convention.
Former regional governor for the North, Kenneth Sanga is leading the group, and says he is the campaign chairperson for the camp in the region.
Also present at the meeting are legislators Welani Chilenga for Chitipa South, Raymond Nkhata for Mzimba South West and Julius Chione Mwase of Nkhata Bay North West.
Kenneth Msonda, the party’s deputy director of research is also present.
Says Sanga: “The meeting here will discuss four things-The convention, background of our Candidate Honouable Nankhumwa, threats within the party including gagging us from speaking to the media, but also some propaganda that these people are bringing up against Nankhumwa.”
