DPP brands MCP a party of darkness

Seems they know the attack better than we do–MCP

Opposition Democratic Progressive Party-DPP, infamous for its trade mark of unleashing terror on critical voices while in power, has now come out furious attacking the governing Malawi Congress Party-MCP for allegedly taking the same path.

It is alleged MCP involved in a series of attacks on their Political opponents as a way of silencing the opposition.

In a media statement signed by DPP’s Spokesperson, Shadric Namalomba said MCP is involved in a number of horrific assassinations on high profile Political figures like the late Saulos Chilima , Sidik Mia, Hon Matenje, Gadama Sangala Chiwanga and others.

“It is involved in the recent tragic loss of MCP Constituency Youth Director Mabvuto Chimwaza,” reads statement in part.

The statement further claimed that MCP has recently used DPP as a scapegoat in the recent mysterious death of Chimwaza which according to the party, is a move deliberately done to tarnish the image of the Party.

Namalomba further said that MCP has in the recent years used violence to achieve it’s political goals and milestones.

The DPP has since urged MCP to take responsibility of their actions and stop playing the victim card but also Calling a stop to the claimed act of silencing Political opponents while also focusing on solving the current economic and social problems that people in the country are facing.

Namalomba has since condemned the act; branding MCP a party of darkness and its reign as a terror that will not change.

“We want to remind the MCP and its agents that while they rejected multiparty democracy by voting against change in the 1993 referendum, they do not have the licence.

“The DPP feels highly aggrieved as it is alleged that some of the victims of the vicious cycle of violence were attacked simply on basis that they put on DPP clothes and we call the Chakwera government to apprehend his hooligans,” said Namalomba.

He therefore accuses the MCP top brass of doing nothing to condemn such acts of violence.

But MCP spokesperson, Ezekiel Ching’oma questions why it is only the DPP which knows of the attack in question.

There are no reported arrests in both cases. DPP was booted out of government after a court-sanctioned-presidential polls in June 2020. It also has a history of unleashing terror on its critics including journalists and human rights defenders.
