Karonga based rights activist Lytone Mangochi, has accused Conrade Kenneth Chitatata Msonda of wanting to buy sympathy trust from President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for his remarks that Malawians must apologize to Chakwera because he is clean following the release of the commission of inquiry findings.
Mangochi has advised Msonda that if he has nothing to speak to Malawians he should close his mouth other than provoking the already angry Malawians who believe that the commission of inquiry instituted by Chakwera was meant to cover him and his MCP on the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, in the Chikangawa forest on 10th June, 2024.
He said President Chakwera told the commission to release the report to the general public before him saying he wanted Malawians to hear what the report is all about not Malawians bowing down to him as if he is God to apologize before him.
The activist said there is nothing in the report for Malawians to cherish that the commission used taxpayers’ money to come up with the findings that have not pleased the citizens saying the Germany report was far much better than the Malawian report.
He has asked President Chakwera to address the nation for deceiving Malawians that the plane which carried the late Dr. Saulosi Chilima reached Mzuzu assuring him that his constituted commission of inquiry has added salt to their wounds they are nursing following Chilima’s death.
Mangochi said Malawians were expecting that some people could have been fired by today such as Army Commander General Paul Velentino Phiri, Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu, Minister of Defense Harry Mkandawire and others for negligence, but till this day, Chakwera has maintained them as loyalists to his government.
“The actions which are being displayed by Chakwera through the instituted commission of inquiry are very questionable looking at the appointment of the members in the commission,” he said.
He has told Msonda that Malawians has nothing to apologize to Chakwera saying he is not God himself and they are waiting for an apology from his observing that Malawians have waited for long for the commission to give credible results but the opposite has happened.
Meanwhile, the Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative (CDEDI) has asked the Commission which investigated the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, to make available the report to reach all Malawians.
The organization’s Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa has been quoted in the media having said Malawians are anxiously waiting for the report expressing fears that once the report has reached President Chakwera, he will sit on it just the same as he has done with the Covid-19 pandemic and Public Sector Reforms (PSR) reports.
