Usi snubs party’s constitutional committee

Dr. Michael Usi, former President of the United Transformation Movement (UTM), has refused to appear before the party’s constitutional committee tomorrow on 30th December, despite being summoned.

Usi was required to appear before the committee in Lilongwe to answer questions regarding his role in undermining the party’s constitution.

Speaking at his home at Mudi in Blantyre, he allegedly claimed that he would not be intimidated by individuals who have breached the party’s constitution.

In an interview, Felix Njawala, the party’s spokesperson, responded to Usi’s statements, saying that Malawians are now aware of Dr. Usi’s intentions to destroy the good work left behind by Dr. Saulos Chilima UTM founder.

Njawala also accused Usi of attempting to conceal the K61 million funds received by the party from the government to support Dr. Chilima’s funeral expenses.

“He is the one who was supposed to manage these funds, and we demand that he produces a report on how the funds were used,” Njawala said.

The UTM party is currently facing a constitutional crisis, with some members questioning Usi’s leadership and his commitment to upholding the party’s constitution.
