Silver Strikers Football Team said they are happy with the performance of Peter Mponda as head coach of the team for managing to be the leagues champions in this years TNM super league.
Speaking with Malawi News Agency (MANA) on Thursday, Board Chairperson for the team, George Kaudza Masina said any team wants its coach to manage its players to victory.
“The main function of a coach is to win the league and cups. Peter Mponda has managed to bring the main happiness which is TNM super league. We are very happy for the development,” he said.
He refuted rumours that Mponda only had a two-year contract with the team.
“As of now Mponda has a running contract with Silver Strikers. Employment is between the employer and employee so we cannot go to media houses and talk about his contract. A press release will be issued on the same but as of now lets celebrate that we are TNM champions with Peter Mponda,” he said.
Anointed Kasampha, a sports expert congratulated Silver Strikers for being the champions for 2024 TNM super league.
Kasampha said this achievement is coming from different areas because this year the team has been consistent since the league started.
“We have seen a changed team and the coach came with tactics with the aim of winning the league. The team hardly lost any game. So the coach has brought self-confidence to the players,” he said.
Kasampha advised the team to maintain Peter Mponda as a coach otherwise players may regress in the next season.
Silver Strikers has become 2024 TNM super league after 13 years.
