Dowa West Parliamentarian Abel Kayembe has urged his constituents to engage in small-scale businesses as a pathway to improving their livelihoods and contributing to national development. Kayembe made these remarks during an engagement meeting with community members in Mkulera, within the area of Senior Chief Dzoole.

Speaking to the gathered residents, Kayembe emphasized the importance of self-reliance, encouraging families to explore local business initiatives as a means to foster personal and community progress. “Small-scale businesses are the foundation of economic empowerment. They help families become self-sustaining while boosting local economies,” he said.

In addition to advocating for business ventures, Kayembe announced a significant infrastructure project aimed at enhancing market accessibility. He disclosed plans to construct a bridge at Nkulera, which will enable farmers to transport their produce more efficiently to various markets. “The Nkulera bridge will not only ease transportation but also ensure that farmers can maximize profits by accessing broader markets,” he explained.

Kayembe’s vision aligns with the broader goal of creating a self-sufficient and economically active constituency. He encouraged collaboration among community members and local leaders to ensure the successful implementation of such development projects.

The meeting highlighted the importance of grassroots initiatives in addressing challenges faced by rural communities. Kayembe reiterated his commitment to fostering development and supporting constituents in their efforts to improve their livelihoods.

As the country grapples with economic challenges, Kayembe’s call for small-scale business engagement serves as a reminder of the critical role community-driven initiatives play in achieving sustainable development.
